Donald Trump made a trip to the U.S.-Mexico border hours before Kamala Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination for President.
Once there, he walked along the border wall, that he called the ‘Rolls Royce of all walls’ and attacked the Democratic Party’s nominee.
“We’re here today on the southern border in Arizona, where comrade Kamala Harris, I call her comrade because she is a radical left Marxist. She wants open borders. She wants our country to be open to the world’s criminals,” he told reporters.
He blamed the Biden-Harris administration for not completing the border that was built in his tenure. Illegal border crossings are a hot button topic in this election and often a prickly issue for Democrats.
Trump also said, “We had a border czar who was the border czar. She loved the title, but she didn’t want to do the work because she’s lazy.”
He has made this a centrepiece of his campaigning. Trump has called Harris a ‘lazy border czar’ and a ‘radical left Marxist’, accusing the Democrats of favouring ‘open borders’.
Biden has refuted that saying it was on Trump’s nudge that the Republicans didn’t allow bipartisan legislation on stronger borders to get through the Senate.
This was Trump’s 2nd outdoor event after his assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, where he had a narrow escape. It also came on a day a Southern Arizona man made death threats to Trump on social media.
66 year old Ronald Lee Syvrud,a man with multiple outstanding warrants against him, was arrested for making death threats against Trump. Coincidentally, he comes from the same area that Trump visited in Arizona.
Though Trump said he was not aware of the threats the accused had made, he said he was not surprised.
